WHAT: Spring Nature Outing #2: Chestnut Ridge (Columbus Metro Parks)
WHEN: Wednesday, 3/20 — 10:00a - 1:00p
WHERE: 8445 Winchester Rd NW, Carroll 43112
MEETING LOCATION: Parking Lot by the Ampitheater
WHERE WE'LL BE: Our main hike will include the Ridge and Homesite Trails (1.5 miles) and features a 150-foot ascent through the woods to the ridge line overlooking the downtown skyline. This ridge also marks the start of the foothills for the Appalachian Mountains. For families with younger children who need a less strenuous hike, there will be the option of taking the Milkweed Trail (0.6 miles) — a simple loop through the fields and a short bit through the woods. We’ll all meet up after our hikes at the playground near our parking lot!
BRING: Please wear nature hike/weather appropriate clothing and shoes. Some families bring an extra change of clothes/towels/wipes (just in case things get extra muddy or wet) to our Nature Outings! We also host guided nature journaling during our events — so, please bring whatever supplies your family would like to use for this time. Some draw or watercolor in dedicated notebooks, some take pictures, and some write and describe what they’ve discovered. You're also welcome to bring nature observation tools. And don't forget a packed lunch for your family!
POLICY REMINDER: Families must stay together — parents are responsible for their own their children at all times. Thanks in advance for understanding.
RSVP: This is very important — please use the form below to RSVP for your family! We need to know exactly who is coming so we are sure to not leave anyone behind or spend time waiting for a family that isn't coming! The RSVP form will close at 8:00a on the morning of our event. If anything changes for your RSVP, please send a direct email to firstname.lastname@example.org — thanks!
